Welcome

"Are You Tough Enough to Wear Pink?" was first asked during the 2006 Wrangler National Rodeo Finals as rodeo participants and sponsors were asked to raise money for breast cancer research. With this inspiration in 2007, a NCAA college football version of the Wrangler rodeo event was created at New Mexico State University. Since then more than $2 million in cash and in-kind contributions have been raised and “NMSU Aggies Are Tough Enough to Wear Pink” campaign has become the largest event of its kind in the world!
WHO WE ARE & WHAT WE DO
We are Pat Sisbarro, Magellia Boston, Mary Henson and Laura Conniff. We are breast cancer survivors who lead a volunteer group dedicated to raising breast cancer awareness, early intervention and funds for research in southern New Mexico.
Our signature event is an annual NCAA college football game featuring our own NMSU Aggies. We raise awareness by filling Aggie Memorial Stadium with fans who, for one day, trade NMSU crimson for various shades of pink. We also engage members of the Las Cruces, NM, community in educational programs and events intended to promote breast cancer education and early intervention.
After operational expenses, 100% of the cash funds we raise are invested in endowments at New Mexico State and the UNM Cancer Center. Interest income generated from these endowments is currently funding the collaborative cancer research work of Drs. Jeffrey B. Arterburn of New Mexico State University and Eric R. Prossnitz of the University of New Mexico. Breakthrough discoveries in the work of Drs. Arterburn and Prossnitz and their teams have been internationally recognized in the fight against human cancers and other diseases.
Representitives from Cowboys for Cancer Research and the NMSU Agges are Tough Enough to Wear Pink to presented NMSU President Parbara Couture with a check for $330,000 for the C4CR Endowment at the NMSU Foundation.
