September 15, 2011– To kick-off Breast Cancer Awareness Month, Memorial Medical Center will be offering mammograms on Saturday, October 1 at their HealthPlex location for a flat-fee rate of $50.
This will provide an opportunity for women who are uninsured or whose insurance does not cover mammograms and who do not meet the financial requirements for the New Mexico Department of Health’s Breast and Cervical Cancer Early Detection Program to get this potentially life-saving test.
According to the New Mexico Tumor Registry, Breast Cancer is the most prevalent cancer for women in New Mexico. In Dona Ana County, about 100 new cases of breast cancer are diagnosed every year.
"We know how important early detection is and feel that it is important to support every woman getting a mammogram. We are offering this during Breast Cancer Awareness Month so that more women in our community will have this opportunity,” said Paul Herzog, CEO.
In order to schedule a mammogram for a flat fee of $50 on October 1, please call the MMC Imaging Services scheduling line at 521-5270.
