Welcome
We are Pat Sisbarro, Magellia Boston, Mary Henson and Laura Conniff. We are breast cancer survivors who, five years ago, took a rodeo-themed breast cancer awareness fundraiser and brought it to college football at New Mexico State University.
WHAT WE DO
We lead a volunteer group dedicated to raising breast cancer awareness, early intervention and funds for research in southern New Mexico. Since 2007, we’ve presented more than $1.1 million in cash and in-kind contributions to our partner organization, Cowboys for Cancer Research. Beyond raising funds, we raise awareness by filling NMSU’s Aggie Memorial Stadium with football fans who, for one day, trade NMSU crimson for various shades of pink. We also engage members of the Las Cruces, NM, community in educational programs and events intended to promote breast cancer educations and early intervention.
LAS CRUCES: “NMSU Aggies Are Tough to Wear Pink” organizers have closed the books on their 2011 campaign and report a total $570,581 in cash and in-kind contributions will be presented to Cowboys for Cancer Research.
This total reflects $22,465 in additional contributions made by local business, schools and individuals after the $548,116 check presentation made during halftime of New Mexico State’s annual “Tough Enough to Wear Pink” football game in October. It marks an 8.6% increase over the 2010 total of $525,439 and brings the volunteer group’s five year cash and in-kind fundraising total to $2,314,705.
